SIGNAL·Applications·Talent Intelligence
SIGNAL · Applications · By Invitation

Senior talent intelligence for firms that hire from asset management.

SIGNAL runs a weekly agentic scan of more than a thousand boutique asset managers, surfacing competitive and distribution intelligence for our subscribers. The same engine, calibrated for talent rather than mandates, surfaces senior people in motion across the asset management and hedge fund universe — well before they appear on LinkedIn.

The calibration is anchored in the largest AI and technology recruiting dataset in the industry, built over twenty-five years of senior placements across the asset management ecosystem and extended through a 2019 global research mandate covering every researcher, engineer, and scientist whose work touches money management.

01 — THE GAP

The senior people who matter aren't on LinkedIn yet.

Researchers leave systematic shops when comp arbitration breaks down or when a parent firm gets distracted. Senior traders who actually cover pensions, sovereigns, and insurers move when the seat above them clears. Quantitative portfolio managers surface when a strategy quietly sunsets or when a parent retrenches a platform. Risk and data leaders move when infrastructure decisions go sideways.

These signals appear first in earnings call language, regulatory filings, internal tip flow, and competitor distress patterns — not on a candidate profile until weeks later. By then, the right person is already in conversation with someone else.

AMAi tracks this layer continuously, by firm and by name.

02 — THE COVERAGE

Senior populations across the firms we monitor.

The engine covers senior populations across investment, technology, risk, and data. On the investment side: portfolio managers, senior researchers, and quantitative strategists, including those at systematic and discretionary firms across the asset management and hedge fund universe.

On the platform side: heads of engineering, ML platform leads, infrastructure principals, and senior data engineering and data science leaders.

On the risk side: heads of quantitative risk, market risk, model risk, and operational risk.

The coverage is anchored in the same dataset that powers SIGNAL's competitive intelligence — earnings calls, regulatory filings, organizational signals, distress patterns — and extended through the recruiting infrastructure described below.

03 — THE INFRASTRUCTURE BEHIND IT

A 25-year asset management operator, a 2019 global research mandate, and a 25-year recruiting dataset.

The 2019 Mandate

In 2019, a top-ten global asset manager commissioned Daniel Enskat to lead an 18-month global study on AI in investment management — a mandate that took him to the Allen Institute for AI in Seattle, the IDSIA AI research center in Lugano, EU AI research programs, Facebook, Amazon, Australia’s federal AI initiative, and dozens of other labs.

The mandate produced a 250-page private blueprint for the firm. It also produced something that has continued to compound in the years since: a global mapping of every AI researcher, engineer, and data scientist whose work touches money management.

That mapping is the foundation of what AMAi sees today.

THE RECRUITING LAYER

The recruiting layer comes through Warren Enskat Group, where Daniel is Managing Partner. WEG pioneered the institutional team liftout in 1993, and over twenty-five years of senior placements across the asset management ecosystem, the firm has tracked more than 75 completed team moves and the $200B+ in AUM that followed those people.

SIGNAL's talent calibration sits on the combined infrastructure: the 2019 mapping of the AI and technology population, and the recruiting dataset that has tracked the broader senior population for a quarter century.

04 — REACH OUT

Request a conversation.

This calibration is offered selectively, to firms whose senior hiring volume in this ecosystem justifies a continuous intelligence engagement rather than transactional searches. If that describes your firm, the right next step is a direct conversation about scope, fit, and engagement model.
