SIGNAL · Product Overview

SIGNAL.

Weekly AI-powered intelligence for boutique asset managers. Custom scored against your strategic priorities. Delivered every Monday morning with named contacts and draft outreach.

01 — THE METHODOLOGY

What SIGNAL does, in detail.

Every Sunday night, SIGNAL scans 1,000+ institutional asset managers across seven sources. Each firm is scored against your custom signal criteria, producing a traffic-light rating — Critical, High, or Medium — based on how strongly the week’s activity matches your specific strategic priorities.

Critical signals are delivered Monday morning with full context. High and Medium signals are delivered in the weekly digest.

  1. Investment management newsFunds Europe, IPE, Pensions & Investments, FundFire, Ignites, Citywire

  3. Earnings calls and shareholder communicationsFrom publicly-listed managers and their parents
  4. Executive moves on LinkedInRole changes at Head of Distribution, Head of BD, President, and C-suite levels

02 — THE STRUCTURE

The institutional channel has four layers. SIGNAL works at every one.

Most asset managers are watching one layer at a time. The intelligence that matters lives in how the layers connect — a consultant rotation that triggers an allocator review that opens a model slot at an aggregator. SIGNAL surfaces those moments by maintaining proprietary substrate at all four layers, scanned every Sunday night.

Layer 01 The Field

Asset Managers.

The competitive landscape your distribution team navigates every week. Every move — new product launches, leadership changes, AUM inflection, mandate wins and losses — is a moment to position against, learn from, or recruit out of.

Signal watches outflows, distribution hires, product launches, channel expansions, M&A activity, competitor mandate movement
Layer 02 Who Recommends

Institutional Consultants.

The gatekeepers between asset managers and most institutional capital. For the majority of US public pensions, endowments, foundations, and Taft-Hartley plans, the consultant decides which managers reach the short list. The plan signs the check; the consultant decides who gets considered.

Signal watches manager research head transitions, focus list rotations, OCIO mandate awards, asset-class research priorities, ODD outcomes
Layer 03 Who Buys

Institutional Allocators.

Sovereign wealth funds, public pension systems, corporate plans, endowments and foundations. The capital itself. Their CIOs and heads of external managers decide allocation policy, run RFPs, and place mandates. The seat that matters varies by allocator type — and SIGNAL maps which is which.

Signal watches new CIO appointments, asset allocation policy shifts, RFP issuance, mandate awards and terminations, board-level strategy changes
Layer 04 Who Deploys

Intermediary Distribution.

Fee-only RIAs, multi-family offices, and aggregator platforms — the layer where wealth-channel decisions actually happen. Segmented by archetype, average account size, custodian relationships, and named gatekeepers. This is where ETF, CIT, and model portfolio launches live or die in the first ninety days.

Signal watches new manager research leads, model marketplace launches, leadership transitions, AUM growth inflection, new vehicle approvals

One layer in isolation is noise. The pattern across all four is the signal — and the difference between calling on the wrong two hundred firms and the right thirty.

03 — THE WEEKLY DELIVERABLE

What you receive.

Every Critical signal arrives Monday morning with everything you need to act — not a news digest, but a decision-ready briefing.

Firm Summary
AUM, strategy lineup, recent strategic activity. Relevant personnel, competitive positioning, and the context that makes the signal actionable.
Signal Interpretation
Why the signal matters for your specific business. Based on your calibrated criteria — not a generic explanation, but the version written for your firm and your strategic priorities.
Named Contact
The specific person to approach, with verified email. Not a general directory — the person whose role and seniority make them the right first conversation, with email verified through industry intelligence tools before delivery.
Draft Outreach
Ready-to-send email tied to the signal. (Intelligence + Outreach tier.) Written in your firm’s voice, anchored to the specific signal, with a soft CTA calibrated to the signal’s urgency.
Monthly Briefing
30 minutes with a senior SIGNAL advisor. To refine your signal criteria as your strategic priorities evolve. This is an ongoing calibration relationship, not a one-time setup.
04 — WHAT MAKES SIGNAL DIFFERENT

This is not a data feed.

SIGNAL is built on a 25-year institutional network and a decade of AI research — not a scraped database and a generic LLM.

Custom Criteria
Not fixed categories. Every client’s SIGNAL is calibrated to their specific channels, products, and competitive positioning in a 2-3 hour workshop at onboarding. The scan runs against your criteria, not a standard template.
Named Contacts
Not job title lookups. Every Critical signal includes a specific person, selected based on their role, seniority, and the signal’s strategic context. Emails verified before delivery.
Operator Interpretation
Not algorithmic summaries. Every Critical signal is reviewed and contextualized by a senior advisor with decades of asset management operating experience. The intelligence reflects judgment, not just data extraction.
Weekly Rhythm
Not real-time noise. Real-time alerts train you to react to every event. SIGNAL is calibrated to the actual cadence at which you can act — Monday morning, once a week, with the five or ten moments that actually matter.
